Government Approves Coal Supply to Nine Thermal Units Affected by Go-No-Go Policy for Up to Three Years.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved coal supply to nine thermal power units affected by the Ministry of Environment's Go-No-Go Policy, which delayed coal block development. These units, part of 24 with tapering linkages, will receive additional coal for up to three years or until production begins. The supply will be reviewed annually by relevant ministries. Coal will be provided on a Fuel Supply Agreement basis, with additional amounts under Memorandum of Understanding, depending on availability. Coal India Ltd. is tasked with importing coal to meet shortfalls, with 157 agreements signed for 71,145 MW capacity.
