The program comprises the National Programme for Bovine Breeding (NPBB) and the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD). NPBB focuses on artificial insemination, indigenous breed conservation, and establishing breeders' associations. NPDD aims to develop dairy infrastructure, including milk production, procurement, processing, and marketing. By the program's end, 5,000 MAITRI will be established, 36,418 dairy cooperative societies organized, and significant milk chilling and processing capacities created to boost milk production and meet demand.
