As per WTO 2010 Press Release, India ranked at 12th position in World trade in commercial services in 2009.

With the new Foreign Trade Policy (2009-14), incentives have been given to the services sector through the "Served from India" scheme.  All services providers who have at least earned Rs.10 Lakhs in the preceding or current financial year are eligible for duty credit scrips.  They are also entitled to duty credit equivalent to 10 percent of the foreign exchange earned by them in the preceding financial year.  In addition to this all service exporters are also entitled for EPCG and other benefits as provided under FTP 2009-14.

This information was given by Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.

Served from India scheme: service exporters gain duty credit scrips and access to EPCG and related trade incentives. The Foreign Trade Policy's Served from India scheme makes service providers meeting the prescribed earnings threshold eligible for duty credit scrips and an additional duty credit linked to prior foreign exchange earnings; service exporters are also eligible for the Export Promotion Capital Goods scheme and other policy benefits. RBI trade data show services' contribution to total exports, and international reporting placed India among the leading countries in commercial services trade.
