The Government has said that industry bodies like FICCI, other Chambers and Associations act to pursue causes and concerns of their members with a view to obtain redress and remedial actions from the relevant authorities. Such bodies do not maintain details of their advocacy activities. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today, Shri Sachin Pilot, Minister of Corporate Affairs, said that the report of the Committee appointed to go into media reports on disclosure of Wal-Mart before the US senate regarding its lobbying activities and whether it undertook any activity in India in contravention of any Indian Law, has been received and is under examination in consultation with the Ministries concerned.

Lobbying disclosure under review as government examines a committee report and consults ministries on corporate advocacy. The Government reports that industry associations pursue member interests but typically do not maintain detailed records of advocacy; a Committee report on a multinational retailer's lobbying disclosures has been received and is under inter ministerial examination to assess any implications for domestic law or disclosure practices.
