25^th April 2010 is the due date for filing of service tax return for the Half Year October 2009 to March 2010.

Since 25^th April 2010 is holiday being Sunday, the returns can be filed on the next working day i.e. the Monday, 26^th April 2010.

News from the Service Tax Commissionerate is being reproduced as under:

             "THE RETURN MELA SHALL BE HELD ON 23rd AND 26th APRIL 2010 AT CGO COMPLEX, LODHI ROAD, DELHI [at Block No. 11] 1000 to 1700. THE RETURNS FOR DIVISION I AND DIVISION II SHALL BE ACCEPTED AT THE ABOVE LOCATION ONLY. GURGAON AND FARIDABAD DIVISION SHALL BE ACCEPTING RETURNS AT THEIR OFFICE LOCATIONS ITSELF"

Service tax return due date extended to next working day when statutory deadline falls on a holiday. Service tax returns for the half year October 2009-March 2010 had a filing deadline of 25 April 2010; where that date was a holiday, filing was permitted on the next working day. Administrative facilitation included a return mela at the CGO Complex, Lodhi Road on 23 and 26 April 2010 (1000-1700) for Divisions I and II, while Gurgaon and Faridabad divisions continued to accept returns at their own offices.
