Due to wrong recording of production data for Electricity Sector, the Index of Industrial Production for the Electricity Sector for the month of April 2013 is corrected to 159.1 from 153.8 as shown in the press release dated June 12, 2013 of this Ministry.
As a result, the General Index for the month of April 2013 is revised upward to 167.8 from 167.3 shown in the press release. The revised index is 2.2% higher as compared to the level in the month of April 2012.
The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of April 2013 now stand at 121.0, 177.8 and 159.1 respectively, with the corresponding growth rates of (-) 3.0%, 2.8% and 3.4% as compared to April 2012.
As per Use-based classification, the growth rates in April 2013 over April 2012 are 2.0% in Basic goods, 1.0% in Capital goods and 2.4% in Intermediate goods. The Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables have recorded growth of (-) 8.3% and 12.3% respectively, with the overall growth in Consumer goods being 2.8%.

Index Revision: industrial production index revised upward after correction to electricity sector data, altering sectoral and use based growth rates. Correction issued to previously released industrial production statistics: a recording error in the Electricity sector data has been rectified, producing an upward revision of the Electricity sector index and the overall General Index for April 2013. The corrigendum specifies the corrected Electricity-sector index and states that the revised General Index is higher than the earlier published figure, and summarizes revised sectoral and use-based growth rates.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
