<h1>Core Industries Index Grows 4.5% in February 2010, Boosted by Coal and Electricity Production Increases.</h1> The Index of Six Core Industries, accounting for 26.7% of the Index of Industrial Production, reached 252.4 in February 2010, showing a growth of 4.5% compared to 1.9% in February 2009. From April 2009 to February 2010, these industries grew by 5.3%, up from 2.9% the previous year. Crude oil production increased by 4% in February 2010, while petroleum refinery production grew by 0.8%. Coal production rose by 6.8%, electricity generation by 7.3%, and cement production by 5.8%. Finished carbon steel production saw a growth of 0.9% in February 2010. All data are provisional.
