One Day Workshop on ‘Facilitating Small Businesses’

To be Held on 10th June, 2013; To Bring Together State Level Key Functionaries Dealing With Industry and Small Business Sectors and A Variety of Entrepreneurs Owning Small Enterprises in Different Sectors from Across the Country.

Ministry of Finance in association with Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and World Bank will organise a one-day workshop titled “Facilitating Small Businesses” here on Monday, 10th June, 2013. The Workshop would be attended among others Dr Arvind Mayaram, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Shri Madhav Lal, Secretary, Department of Micro, Medium and Small Enterprises (MSME), Dr Raghuram Rajan, Chief Economic Adviser (CEA), Ministry of Finance and Ms Sujata Nitin Lamba, Finance and Private Sector Director for South Asia, World Bank among others.

The objective of this one-day workshop is to bring together State level key functionaries dealing with industry and small business sectors and a variety of entrepreneurs owning small enterprises in different sectors from across the country.

The workshop would provide opportunities to States to share their success stories and the challenges faced by them in recent past in facilitating the ease of doing business in their respective States. The workshop would also provide a platform to small business owners from different sectors to share their success stories as well as the challenges and regulatory hurdles they face in their day to day operations.

Based on the deliberations and experiences shared by different stakeholders in the workshop, the Ministry of Finance would aim to develop an agenda to tackle the main impediments that are identified, and bring together the necessary groups of stakeholders in further work on these issues.

Facilitating small businesses: workshop to identify regulatory obstacles and form an agenda for stakeholder-led reforms. A one-day 'Facilitating Small Businesses' workshop brings state industry and small-business functionaries and entrepreneurs together to share success stories and operational challenges, with the objective of identifying regulatory obstacles to the ease of doing business. The Ministry of Finance will use these deliberations to develop an agenda to tackle the main impediments and to convene relevant stakeholder groups for follow-up work on targeted reforms.
