He previously served as Defence Secretary, Secretary of Financial Services, and Secretary of Communication and Information Technology. His career also includes roles in various ministries and departments at both the central and state levels. Sharma holds an M.Sc. in Administrative Science from the University of York and an M.A. in Political Science from Agra University.
