<h1>SEZ Act 2005 Boosts Exports: 577 SEZs Approved, Rs. 4.76 Trillion Exports by 2013, Over 1 Million Jobs Created.</h1> The fiscal incentives and duty benefits for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are embedded in the SEZ Act, 2005, and its subsequent rules, aiming to promote exports. Since the Act's implementation, 577 SEZs have been approved, with 389 notified by May 2013. SEZ exports skyrocketed from Rs. 34,615 Crore in 2006-07 to Rs. 4,76,159 Crore in 2012-13, significantly contributing to national exports. SEZs are largely driven by private investment. As of March 31, 2013, over a million people are employed in SEZs across various states. No pending applications exist for new SEZs in the country.
