Information filed with the Competition Commission of India (CCI) against certain car manufacturing companies alleging anti-competitive practices is under consideration of the Commission. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today Shri Sachin Pilot, Minister of Corporate Affairs, said that for protecting the interest of consumers, CCI is empowered under the Competition Act, 2002, to impose penalty or issue ‘cease and desist’ order or both, against enterprises involved in anti-competitive practices including cartelistation.
