of <h1>Finance Minister reveals demat accounts frozen over missing PANs; Rs. 95,769 crore in frozen assets.</h1> The Minister of State for Finance announced in Lok Sabha that certain demat accounts were frozen due to the absence of Permanent Account Numbers (PAN). As of August 31, 2007, the value of holdings in these frozen accounts was Rs. 95,769 crore. Since January 1, 2007, depositories have released 18.86 lakh demat accounts after account holders submitted PAN details. This information was provided in response to a question raised by two members of the parliament.
