VALIDITY OF THE DFIA/ADVANCE LICENCE

Hamid Syed

The advance licences/DFIA's being issued now a days by RLA's is having vallidity upto 31.03.2014 i.e. if the licence is issued in the month of Jan., 2013 it will be valid till 31.03.2014. In this case the validity if only 14 months. Whereas the licence validity if 24 months, as per the Policy.

When asked, the RLA's reply is that since the policy is valid upto 31.03.2014, the licences issued will have the valdiity upto 31.03.2014 only.

As an importer, we are confused. Can any body throw some light on this issue.

Thanks/Regards/Syed

Query on Advance Licenses Validity: Why 14 Months Instead of Standard 24? Clarification Needed on Policy Terms. An individual raised a query regarding the validity period of advance licenses/DFIAs issued by Regional Licensing Authorities (RLAs). The licenses are currently valid only until March 31, 2014, even if issued in January 2013, resulting in a 14-month validity instead of the standard 24 months. The RLAs justify this by stating that the policy itself is valid only until March 31, 2014. The individual expressed confusion about this discrepancy and sought clarification. A response humorously suggested installing better lighting for clarity, without addressing the issue. (AI Summary)
