Individual's Eligibility for Managing Director Role Questioned Under Section 275 Due to Exceeding Directorship Limit A query was raised regarding the eligibility of an individual to be appointed as a Managing Director for a new company, given that he currently holds directorships in 19 companies. According to Section 275 of the Companies Amendment Act 2000, an individual cannot hold directorships in more than 15 companies. Certain exclusions apply, such as private companies that are neither subsidiaries nor holdings of a public company, not-for-profit associations, and unlimited companies. If the individual's directorships exceed 15 after these exclusions, he must relinquish some positions to comply with the limit. (AI Summary)
