Do I need to register my online grocery business and get GSTIN?

I hope all are doing well.

I want to start a online grocery business in a city. We don't have any physical presence of office or headquarter as is it startup. We will deliver groceries from near by shop. As we will deliver from near by shop, so we need to invest only for advertisement, it will not big amount.

So, in this case, do I need to register my business and get GSTIN?

If yes, then please explain the process of registeration and to get GSTIN.

What is the meaning of online in your case i.e. through SMS, Whatsup or through website. You must have a permanent place and should have all KYC documents for getting registration. Further, threshold limit will also play an important role for seeking registration. One more issue whether nearby grocery shop will give you commission or some sort of discount or you will be paid in some other form of consideration.

After considering all these apsects, you can go to the http://www.gst.gov.in for submission online application for seeking registration under GST.

If you play the role of intermediary/agent for someone, then no threshold exemption will be available to you.

@YAGAY, the meaning of online is through website. And currently, we don't have any permanent address. Customer will order on our website and we will deliver from their local grocer. Grocer will give discount on each product.

Even for registering of domain name i.e. website name, KYC documents are required. In our view, by not having any address of place of business will not make you to get the registration certificate from GST Department.
