Tax for spouse's Pension

Guest

My Father died in 2001 after retirement.

My mother has also retired.

Currently my mother gets pension of both hers and my father.

Should my mother being tax for her income ONLY or for both?

Taxation of combined pensions: surviving spouse must include both her and her deceased spouse's pensions in taxable income. A surviving spouse who receives both her own pension and the pension of her deceased spouse must include both pension receipts in her taxable income; the pension payments received by the surviving spouse are treated as income in her hands for income tax purposes.
