TDS on dental material

Jatin Kumar

Weather TDS would be deducted on Scaling and dummy made by independent doctor to dental clinic for treatment of patient by clinic only.

TDS on dental services may apply when contractual payment thresholds are reached, requiring deduction by the payer. The advisory states that TDS deduction depends on contractual payment levels: if payments to an independent dentist for services (e.g., scaling, dummy fabrication) exceed specified per-contract or aggregate annual thresholds, the dental clinic is obliged to deduct tax at source, treating the dentist as an independent service provider. To my view, if the contract is for more than Rs. 30000/- per contract or Rs. 75000/- in aggregate for the year, TDS would be deductible.
