of <h1>Board Adjusts Weightage for Income Tax Appeals; New System Applies to Disputed Demands of Rs. 1-2 Lakhs.</h1> The Board has revised the weightage system for high demand income tax appeals. Previously, appeals with disputed demands of Rs. 2 lakhs and above received a weightage of 3 units. Now, appeals involving disputed demands between Rs. 1 lakh and 2 lakhs will receive a weightage of 1.5 units. This adjustment applies only to appeals decided after January 1, 1990, and does not have retrospective effect. These changes partially modify the earlier Instruction No. 1819 from May 15, 1989, while other norms from that instruction remain unchanged.
