Board Sets Disposal Quota for CIT(A) at 90 Appeals Monthly; Central Circles at 60 Due to Complexity.
The Board has maintained the quota for disposal of appeals by CIT(A) at 90 appeals per month, with a revised system of weightage. Appeals in central circles have a reduced quota of 60 due to their complexity. The weightage system allows three units for appeals with disputed demands of Rs. 2 lakhs and above, applicable only to assessments and penalties for concealment. This weightage does not apply to appeals against miscellaneous orders or penalties under specific sections. Orders should only be set aside when absolutely necessary. These instructions are effective from April 1, 1989.
