of <h1>CBDT Instruction No. 1668: Respond to PMO and VIP references within 7 days or face negative record entries.</h1> The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued Instruction No. 1668, dated April 12, 1985, addressing delays in responding to references from the Prime Minister's Office and other VIPs. The Finance Minister has questioned the lack of timely responses. The Board mandates that such references be given top priority, with replies expected within approximately seven days. Failure to comply with these instructions may result in negative entries on the concerned officer's record. This directive is to be communicated to all relevant officers.
