of <h1>Board Enforces PAC Recommendations: Income-tax Officers Must Consult TROs Before Issuing Section 230A Clearance Certificates to Prevent Tax Evasion.</h1> The Board has decided to implement recommendations from the Public Accounts Committee to address issues in the administration of Section 230A of the Income-tax Act. It was found that some Income-tax Officers issued clearance certificates for property transfers without consulting Tax Recovery Officers (TROs), even when Tax Recovery Certificates (TRCs) existed, allowing defaulters to sell properties without settling tax arrears. The Board mandates that Income-tax Officers must consult TROs and obtain reports before issuing Section 230A certificates, ensuring tax liabilities are addressed. These instructions are to be disseminated to all relevant parties to protect revenue interests.
