DGFT Updates Handbook: Free Shipping Bills Must Declare Intent for Chapter 3 Benefits, Not Required for Chapters 4-6.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has amended Paragraph 3.11.8 of the Handbook of Procedures Vol I (2009-14). Export shipments under the Free Shipping Bill category must now include a declaration stating the intent to claim Chapter 3 benefits of the Foreign Trade Policy. This declaration is not required for exports under Chapters 4, 5, or 6. If new products or markets are added during the year, a one-month grace period is allowed to include this declaration. Previously, the declaration was needed for all shipping bills under Chapters 4, 5, or 6, but now it is only required for Free Shipping Bills.
