of <h1>RBI Directs Public Banks to Expedite March 1979 Tax Payments; Daily Messenger Service Mandated for Timely Transfers.</h1> The circular instructs that payments of Income-tax and other direct taxes made at public sector bank branches during the second half of March 1979 must be accounted for in the current financial year. To facilitate this, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated daily special messenger arrangements from March 15, 1979, to ensure timely transfer of tax collections to focal point bank branches. Public sector banks are required to adhere strictly to these arrangements, and any delays in transferring bank scrolls must be addressed promptly with bank managers. Unresolved issues should be escalated to the Chief Controller of Accounts (CCA) for resolution.
