The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) clarified that it is unnecessary for the Central Government to issue re-assignment orders in such cases. This applies when a policy, assigned to the President of India for estate duty payment, matures or is surrendered during the assured's lifetime; no specific order is needed for re-assignment to the assured.
