of <h1>Assistant Commissioner authorized to grant private bonded warehouse licenses under section 58 streamlining SEEPZ operations</h1> The Central Board of Excise and Customs authorized the Assistant Commissioner of Customs at SEEPZ to grant private bonded warehouse licenses under section 58 of the Customs Act, 1962. This delegation of powers was implemented following a request from the Development Commissioner to eliminate delays and operational difficulties faced by units in SEEPZ. Previously, such licensing decisions required higher-level approval, but the Board decided to streamline the process by allowing the Assistant Commissioner to make these determinations directly, with post facto information to be provided to the Commissioner of Customs. This administrative change aimed to improve efficiency in the bonding process for units operating within the Special Economic Export Processing Zone.
