It was decided by a Group of Ministers to allow the export of 55 lakh bales of cotton, with exports starting on November 1, 2010. However, actual exports have been lower than approved. A notification issued on December 16, 2010, mandates that future registrations for cotton export contracts will be managed by the DGFT. Detailed procedures and conditions for registration will be announced after determining the remaining exportable quantity.
