<h1>Importers of Restricted Items Must Provide LUT or Bank Guarantee for Re-Export Authorization, Per DGFT Circular.</h1> The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has issued a circular requiring importers of restricted items on a re-export basis to provide a Letter of Undertaking (LUT) or a Bank Guarantee (BG) when obtaining import authorization. Status holders and manufacturers with a turnover of 5 crore or more must execute a LUT for the full import value. Other importers must provide a LUT for the full import value and a BG of 1 lakh rupees. The LUT/BG must cover the re-export period plus six months and will be redeemed upon submission of re-export documentation. This directive is approved by the Competent Authority.
