<h1>India Updates Wastage Norms for Gems and Jewellery: 7% Limit on Gold, Platinum, Silver in Exports.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has amended paragraph 4A.2 of the Handbook of Procedure Vol.I, 2009-14, concerning 'Wastage Norms' for gems and jewellery items. The amendment, issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade, specifies that the wastage percentage by weight for studded jewellery and articles thereof is now set at 7% for both gold/platinum and silver content in export items. This change is made under the authority provided by paragraph 2.4 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2009-2014.
