Customs issues revised TRA instructions for DEEC Scheme to reduce clearance delays at ports
The Central Board of Excise & Customs issued revised instructions for Telegraphic Release Advices under the DEEC Scheme. Following representations from Custom Houses about delays caused by detailed checks at the Port of Registration, the procedure was modified. Custom Houses issuing TRAs need only verify that the licence is valid and prima facie covers the goods for clearance. All other assessment checks under relevant exemption notifications must be conducted at the Port of Clearance during actual clearance. The Port of Registration continues to debit DEEC licences and maintain logging procedures as previously instructed.
