of <h1>India Prioritizes Small Scale Units in SEZs; Mandates Incubators & Space Allocation for Small IT/ITES Firms.</h1> The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India has issued a directive to prioritize small scale units in Central Government Special Economic Zones (SEZs). This initiative is in response to concerns about high lease rentals faced by small scale industries in private SEZs. Development Commissioners are instructed to ensure that small scale units, as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, receive preference in space allocation. IT/ITES SEZs must establish incubators with a minimum of 200 seats, reserving at least 10% of space for small scale IT/ITES units. Monthly reviews of these allocations will be conducted.
