Exporters questioned whether the allowable foreign agency commission, previously ten percent of the free on board (FOB) value as per Notification 41/2007, was reduced to one percent. The clarification states that the exemption for service tax refund is limited to one percent of the FOB value of export goods. However, the maximum allowable foreign agency commission remains at ten percent of the FOB value for service tax refund purposes until further notice.
