of <h1>Tax Audit and Return Deadline Extended to October 31, 2009, for Maharashtra Districts Due to Local Disturbances.</h1> The Central Board of Direct Taxes, under the Ministry of Finance, has extended the deadline for filing tax audit reports under section 44AB and income tax returns from September 30, 2009, to October 31, 2009, for taxpayers in the Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, and Sangli districts of Maharashtra. This decision was made due to local disturbances caused by Swine Flu and riots in these areas. The extension is granted under Section 119 of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The circular is intended for various government officials, departments, and relevant professional bodies for dissemination and compliance.
