India Revises Guidelines for Cotton Yarn EOUs and EPZs to Boost Flexibility and Investments Until December 1998.
The Government of India has revised guidelines for Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and Export Processing Zone (EPZ) units in the cotton yarn sector to enhance flexibility and promote downstream investments. Until December 31, 1998, 100% EOUs can export cotton yarn without count or domestic cotton use restrictions, within a quantitative ceiling of 175 million kilograms. Composite units manufacturing both yarn and fabrics are also granted export flexibility, contingent on fully installed weaving capacity and adherence to export obligations. These changes aim to improve market adaptability and encourage higher value-added fabric exports.
