India Allows Large Industries to Produce Recovered Chemicals Without Export Obligation to Boost Pollution Control Efforts.
The Government of India encourages industrial undertakings to adopt pollution control measures by using waste and effluents to manufacture new products. Chemicals recovered through these processes, typically reserved for small-scale industries, can now be produced by larger units without the mandatory 50% export obligation. Industrial undertakings must apply for an endorsement or new Industrial Licences through the Secretariat for Industrial Assistance. Applications are evaluated on merit, with input from the Development Commissioner (SSI). This policy aims to incentivize the installation of pollution control processes and promote sustainable industrial development.
