Finance Ministry: No Uniform Standard for Fabric Shrinkage; Each Case to be Assessed Individually in Manufacturing Disputes.
The Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue has addressed concerns from the fabric trade regarding demands on fabric shrinkage during manufacturing. The trade has requested the withdrawal of these demands and the allowance of reasonable shrinkage reductions. After consulting with the Directorate General of Inspection, Customs, and Central Excise, the Board concluded that no uniform standard for shrinkage can be established. Instead, each case will be assessed individually, with any claims of unusual shrinkage by manufacturers being disallowed.
