Cotton Yarn Exporters Can Use Neutral Packing, No Manufacturer Details Needed per Rule 185 Relaxation. Separate Storage Required.
The Ministry of Finance has decided to allow exporters of cotton yarn to use 'neutral packing' for their export consignments, meaning they are not required to display the manufacturer's name and address on the packages if they choose. This decision relaxes the requirement under sub-rule (1) of rule 185 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944. Manufacturers must store these export packages separately and maintain subsidiary accounts, which local Central Excise Officers will inspect monthly.
