It has been determined that transit losses up to a maximum of 0.30% can be condoned, regardless of the transportation method. For losses exceeding this limit, the refinery must pay the appropriate duty. This decision follows consultations with the Directorate General of Inspection, Customs and Central Excise (DGICCE), and the Chief Chemist. The guidance is intended to assist relevant Collectorates in handling such cases.
