Tobacco product seizure rules guide enforcement against non-conforming cigarettes and imported products under packaging and labelling requirements. Direction issued to commercial tax to act in accordance with CBEC Circular No. 09/2017 in relation to seized or confiscated foreign-made cigarettes and other tobacco products. Tobacco products, whether manufactured in India, sold, or imported, are to be seized/confiscated where they do not conform to the Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution Act, 2003 and the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Amendment Rules, 2014.
