Officers to Attend Appeal Hearings Only in Significant Cases, Says Board Following 1987 Recommendation.
Recommendation No. 7 from the Collectors' Conference in New Delhi, November 1987, suggested that knowledgeable officers from the relevant Collectorate or Division should attend appeal hearings before the Collector (Appeals). The Board, after consulting all Collectors, decided that officers need not attend every hearing. Only in significant cases, determined by factors like revenue implications, should a knowledgeable officer be deputed. For appeals before the CEGAT, officers from the concerned Collectorates are not required to attend unless specifically requested by the J.D.R/S.D.R.
