India and Bhutan Sign Agreement for Mutual Recognition of Food Safety Standards and Health Certificates.
An agreement was signed between the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Bhutan Food and Drug Authority (BFDA) to recognize BFDA's control over Food Business Operators as equivalent to FSSAI's standards. For food products exported from Bhutan to India, BFDA will issue Health Certificates to confirm compliance with FSSAI requirements. Customs officials are instructed to grant No Objection Certificates for consignments accompanied by these Health Certificates. Importers must upload these certificates on the e-sanchit platform. Officers are advised to ensure compliance and report any difficulties to the Board.
