New Procedure for Re-Sealing Containers at Visakhapatnam Port to Address Non-Compliance Issues with Circular No. 14/2017.
The circular outlines the revised procedure for re-sealing containers with broken, missing, tampered, or mismatched seals at Visakhapatnam Port. It addresses complaints about non-compliance with Board's Circular No. 14/2017. For DPD, ICD/SEZ, and CFS bound containers, terminal operators must re-seal containers and notify Customs. Shipping lines must amend the Bill of Lading and Import General Manifest/Sea Arrival Manifest with Customs approval. Containers undergo 100% examination before clearance. Customs officers maintain records and submit weekly reports. Shipping lines are responsible for amendments and any associated fees or penalties. The notice is effective immediately.
