India to Ease Compliance for SEZ Units: No More Physical SOFTEX Forms, Embrace Digital Submissions.
The circular issued by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, addresses the reduction of compliance burdens for SEZ units regarding SOFTEX forms. It highlights the current practice of SEZ units submitting physical copies of invoices and SOFTEX forms for verification, despite digital submissions being available. To enhance ease of doing business, it has been decided to eliminate the requirement for physical submissions. Instead, electronic documents will be accepted, with physical copies requested only in exceptional cases. This decision aligns SEZ practices with those of STPI units, which have already dispensed with physical submissions.
