Urges Local Counsels for NCLT/NCLAT Cases; Warns of Scrutiny for Counsel Negligence.</h1> The Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue has issued instructions to address the reluctance of some Standing Counsels to represent cases before the NCLT/NCLAT. Despite being empanelled for 'High Court and other fora,' some Counsels are hesitant, particularly when the Commissionerate/Directorate and Tribunal/Appellate Tribunal are in different locations. The Board emphasizes the importance of defending revenue interests effectively and advises appointing local Counsels for better coordination. Any negligence by Counsels will be scrutinized by the Zonal Chief Commissioner/Director General, with potential actions reported to the Board.
