of <h1>Chennai Customs Empanels Chartered Engineers for Valuation of Used Machinery; Annual Appraisals Required for Continued Eligibility.</h1> The Chennai Customs Zone has issued a public notice regarding the empanelment of chartered engineers for valuing second-hand and used plant machinery and goods. Eligible chartered engineers have been selected based on criteria outlined in a previous circular. Importers and customs brokers are advised to use these empaneled engineers for valuation purposes. If there are doubts about an evaluation, the consignment may be reassessed by another approved engineer. Engineers must evaluate goods within their expertise, and their inspections must be documented. Empaneled engineers are required to submit annual self-appraisal reports, and any misconduct may lead to removal from the panel.
