of <h1>New Guidelines for Classifying Telecom Equipment Issued in Circular No. 08/2023, Effective April 1, 2023.</h1> The circular addresses importers, exporters, and stakeholders regarding the classification of telecom equipment under specific tariff items as per Notification No. 57/2017-Customs, amended by Notification No. 02/2019-Customs. It highlights concerns about the categorization of goods under points (b) to (h) within the notification. To resolve these doubts, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs issued Circular No. 08/2023, providing a detailed identification guide in Annexure-1. From April 1, 2023, stakeholders can mark product identification using an alpha-numeric code during import declarations. Any difficulties should be reported to the customs office.
