of <h1>Bengaluru Customs Requires Alphanumeric Codes in Import Declarations for Chemicals, Effective October 15, 2023, Under Customs Tariff Act.</h1> The Office of the Commissioner of Customs in Bengaluru has issued Public Notice 12/2023, mandating additional qualifiers in import declarations for certain products. Effective from October 15, 2023, importers and customs brokers must include an alphanumeric code identifier for specific chemical categories under designated chapters of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. These details must be declared in the Bill of Entry at the item level. If information on an ingredient is unavailable due to supplier confidentiality, a self-undertaking under Statement Code PC002 is required. Trade associations and customs brokers are urged to disseminate this information among their members.
