<h1>India Mandates Testing and Certification for Telecom Equipment Under Telegraph Rules 2017, Effective October 1, 2020.</h1> The Government of India has issued a public notice regarding the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunications Equipment (MTCTE) under the India Telegraph (Amendment) Rules, 2017. Effective from October 1, 2020, telecommunications equipment such as Transmission Terminal Equipment and PON family Broadband Equipment must undergo mandatory testing and certification. This requirement is applicable for the sale, import, or use of these telecom devices in India. The certification process has been available on the MTCTE portal since June 25, 2020. Customs officers are instructed to adhere to this notice, and any issues should be reported to the Commissioner of Customs, Chennai-VII.
