Delhi Customs Mandates Standardized Unit Quantity Codes for Import/Export Declarations Effective August 20, 2020.
The circular from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs in Delhi addresses the standardization of Unit Quantity Codes (UQCs) in Bills of Entry and Shipping Bills for import and export declarations. It mandates the use of Statistical UQCs as per the Tariff Act and restricts the use of non-standard UQCs. Effective from August 20, 2020, only specified codes will be accepted in commercial declarations to improve data quality. This directive serves as a Standing Order for customs officers and staff, ensuring compliance with the approved UQC list provided in the annexure.
