of <h1>India Introduces Paperless Customs: Digital Shipping Bills and Gatepasses Enhance Efficiency and Security from June 22, 2020.</h1> The Government of India has introduced a paperless system for customs processes, eliminating the need for physical printouts of Shipping Bills and Gatepasses. Effective from June 22, 2020, digital copies of these documents will be electronically sent to exporters and customs brokers. This initiative aims to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve security by using digitally signed QR codes for verification. The system also supports logistics operators by providing electronic e-Gatepass copies. In exceptional cases where printouts are needed, the decision will be made by the respective customs authorities. Any issues should be reported to the relevant customs officials.
