Government to Form Regional Committees to Boost Coordination in Export Zones Across Major Indian Cities.
The government has decided to establish Regional Committees for Export Processing Zones (EPZs) and 100% Export Oriented Units (EOUs) in Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, Madras, Cochin, and Kandla. These committees aim to improve coordination among various stakeholders, including EPZ Administration, state governments, trade bodies, and financial institutions, to address procedural and operational challenges. Each committee will include representatives from customs, central excise, state industries, the Reserve Bank of India, the Industrial Development Bank of India, banking committees, and industry associations. Their functions include addressing procedural issues, ensuring coordination, handling grievances, and promoting EPZ growth. Additional members may be co-opted as needed.
